Rejang Beuh Dance

The Rejang Beuh, also known as the Eagle Dance, is a traditional dance of the Bidayuh people of Sarawak, Malaysia. Its name reflects the eagle-like movements of the performers, who spread their arms like wings and mimic the bird’s graceful flight. Rooted in Bidayuh folklore about a hero’s battle with an eagle spirit, the dance has long been performed as communal entertainment after the harvest season, symbolising joy and thanksgiving.

Today, the Rejang Beuh is showcased at major cultural events, especially the Gawai Dayak (Harvest Festival), as a way of entertaining guests and celebrating Bidayuh cultural identity.
