Therapeutic Horticulture Workshop: Scents of the Garden

Explore the restorative qualities of aromatic plants through mindful sensory engagement. Participants will discover how different scents influence emotions and wellbeing, then select fresh herbs and botanicals to create personalised incense cones to take home, fostering a deeper appreciation of the relationship between people and nature.

This workshop is suitable for ages 12 and above.

This workshop is brought to you by BA (Hons) Biophilic Design students from the School of 3D Design, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Our Warming Planet

Through interactive storytelling and hands-on activities, participants will explore why Earth's climate is changing and learn how everyday actions can make a difference. Participants will plant their own microgreens before creating miniature air-dry clay garden accessories to personalise their pots to take home.

This workshop is suitable for ages 5 and above. Children below 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Repair Discovery

Come experience a repair activity inspired by Repair Kopitiam. Through supervised hands-on tasks such as replacing a plug and dismantling and reassembling a table fan, the activity promotes Repair as the 4th R in addition to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, and aims to share how one can extend product lifecycles.  

This activity is purely experiential and participants will not take home any final product. 

It is suitable for all ages, from children, adults to seniors. Children below 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

A Labour of ‘Laksa’ Love: The Ocean-to-Plate Story of Laksa

Every iconic dish is an ecosystem. Join National Geographic Explorer, Max Han, as he traces Singapore’s Siglap Laksa from ocean to bowl, unravelling the ecological networks and fishing communities behind its keystone ingredient, ikan kembung (Indian mackerel). Participants will map these interconnected food systems, stress-test them against climate realities, and examine how environmental degradation directly threatens cultural heritage.

This workshop is suitable for ages 12 and above.

Pre-registration is required.

Participants will be treated to a bowl of laksa at the end of the workshop.

ConservaClay

Shape creativity and conservation in this hands-on, family-friendly workshop! Participants will be guided to sculpt adorable wildlife commonly seen around the Gardens using safe air-dry clay. Through clay crafting and interactive nature-journaling activity sheets, participants will deepen their connection with nature and wildlife conservation.

This workshop is suitable for ages 5 and above. Children below 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Therapeutic Horticulture Workshop: Colours of the Garden

Discover the sensory qualities of plants by creating a personalised botanical handkerchief. Using fresh leaves and flowers, participants will transfer natural pigments and fragrances onto fabric through a traditional plant-pounding technique, producing a unique botanical print while exploring the beauty, texture and diversity of natural materials.

Tiny Garden Heroes: An Insect Expedition

What are all the different heroes that help make our food? Go on an expedition around Gardens by the Bay’s community garden to spot all the different insects and learn about the important things they do in an urban garden. Then, get close to some insect specimens and learn about their biology and how scientists study insects, and reflect on how we can live better with them for their benefit and ours.

This workshop is suitable for ages 8 and above. Children below 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
