White-throated Kingfisher

Unlike its water-loving cousins, this adaptable ‘tree kingfisher’ thrives far beyond rivers and ponds. You’ll find it perched confidently in open fields, parks, gardens and even urban spaces, scanning for its next meal. Its diet is as diverse as its habitats – fish, insects, small reptiles, amphibians and even tiny mammals. Wherever it roams, this dynamic hunter adds a splash of colour and vitality to the landscape.

Native to a vast stretch of Asia, the White-throated Kingfisher ranges from Egypt and Turkey to India, southern China, and the islands of Indonesia and the Philippines. Here in Singapore, it isn’t just passing through – it’s a proud, permanent resident! You’ll find it thriving across our parks, gardens and green spaces, adding vibrancy to our urban oasis all year round.
