Being an Animation Storyboard Artist

Jeff Hong

Attend a talk by Jeff Hong, an animation storyboard artist whose work will be exhibited during Race to Sustainability! 2024. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Hong started as a clean-up artist at Disney Feature Animation in 1996, working on the animated films Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan and The Emperor's New Groove at the age of 17. He also graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration in 2004. Hong has since worked for television shows that have appeared on NICKELODEON, FOX, SHOWTIME, AMAZON, BBC, APPLE TV+, and more for the past twenty years.

The talk will cover Hong’s animation journey, examples of animatics and storyboards created at different points in his career as well as storyboarding tips.
