The Gardens Race Trace app is optimised for 5G-network. You may expect a reduced connection speed when using Wi-Fi or 4G.

To enable 5G network on your device, please refer to the following:

• Settings > Mobile Data Options > Data: 5G On

For Android:

• Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Network mode: 5G and Use 5G standalone networks. 

After installing the app on your device, you will be directed to the Splash screen. Simply click on the Start button to begin your AR experience!

Gardens Race Trace uses visual recognition to activate the activities at each station. To ensure a smooth experience, scan the station’s surroundings with your device’s camera after starting the activity.

The Gardens Race Trace app is a 5G augmented reality (AR) digital trail offering unique AR activities at 4 main stations at Gardens by the Bay: Flower Dome, Cloud Forest, Golden Garden, and the Foyer Beside Main Ticketing Counter (Outside Flower Dome). Complete all the activities at every station to stand a chance to enter a lucky draw!

• Scan the floor at The Baobabs in Flower Dome
• Scan the Baobab tree at The Baobabs in Flower Dome 
• Scan the Supertrees at Golden Garden
• Spot 3 AR animals roaming around in Golden Garden 
• Look out for the Quetzals at Cloud Forest
• Decorate your selfie with stickers at the Foyer Beside Main Ticketing Counter  

AR Games 

• Paint the Supertrees at the Golden Garden. 
• Peel the bark off the cork oak tree. 
• Feed the Venus flytrap. 

The Gardens Race Trace app will be available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store from 28 October to 3 December 2023.

Yes, you may, though your first submission for the lucky draw would already be captured, and no other submissions will be accepted.

The Gardens Race Trace app is optimised for the following 5G-enabled devices:

• iPhone 12 and above

• Samsung S21 and above
   

We recommend reinstalling the app on your device. However, if the issue persists, your device may not be supported to run the Gardens Race Trace app.

The Gardens Race Trace app can run on devices with the following version:

• IOS version: 12.0 or later

• Android 12 and later with latest ARCore version.

By default, device screens are adjusted to dim/darken when they are exposed to direct sunlight. For the best experience, we recommend that you use the app in a shaded area to minimise the amount of sunlight your screen is exposed to.

Low end devices may heat up easily while using AR features, we recommend you cool your device by closing the app for some time. 

Yes. The app will not perform well on low power mode. Charge your device before using the app.

We recommend that your device has at least 80% battery life. The app consumes at least 20% of battery life. However, this may vary depending on the usage and battery health of your device. 

Please grant the app permission to access the camera and photos/gallery.

For android devices, please ensure that your Google Play Services for AR is updated. To check if it requires an update, go to Google Play Store > Manage apps and device > Updates available.

Yes, the Gardens Race Trace app can run on Wifi. However, the app is optimised for a 5G network. Turn off your Wifi for a seamless connection to your 5G network.

Use your device’s camera to scan the surroundings for the app to recognise the area and activate the activity.

Every activity is unique. Follow the instructions given by Darcy the Dragonfly when you start an activity, or tap on the ‘?’ icon on the top right of the activity screen.

All AR activities require you to scan your surroundings. After which, instructions will be provided on how to complete the activity. 

You may refer to the instructions overlay by tapping on the ‘?’ on the top right of the activity screen.

You may open the Gardens Race Trace app once again to resume the trail.
