FAQ - Children's Festival 2023: Nature's Imaginarium


General

Children’s Festival is an outdoor activity trail featuring supersized installations of flora and fauna from Gardens by the Bay, as well as curated programmes and activity zones. Pick-up a complimentary activity trail booklet* from the information & booklet redemption counter located along North Colonnade and embark on a fun day out with Calvin the caterpillar to find his missing shoes. Complete the mission in the activity trail booklet to redeem an exclusive sticker sheet at the redemption booth.

This year’s Children’s Festival aims to spark wonder in the little ones about nature through play, crafts, and other exciting activities that have been curated around the themes of plants, animals, and insects. Event highlights include:

Nature-inspired playground

For the little ones who are looking for some fun under the sun, join us at the Treehouse slide and nature-inspired installations, where some selected installations have playable elements* such as a mini obstacle course and mini ball pit. 

Trail activity

Engage the kids with a fun and easy-to-do booklet activity with 6 puzzles that can be solved while they visit the various installations at Supertree Grove, before they can figure out Calvin the caterpillar’s favourite hideout to redeem an exclusive sticker sheet! 

Outdoor screenings

What? Complimentary movies every evening—and a different one each day at that? From family favourites like Madagascar to blockbuster ones like Disney and Pixar's The Incredibles ©, be sure to grab your spot at the lawn at Supertree Grove, redeem your free popcorn, and enjoy a relaxing family bonding time from 6pm every day! 

Caterpillar train ride

For the little explorers, how about a train ride with a view? Hop on board the Caterpillar train* in the Supertree Grove and join Calvin on a guided tour to meet his friends and learn about the various plants and creatures along the way!

Crafts and games

For those who are creative and like to be hands-on, come and participate in the different fun craft activities to build and create things together as a family! Don’t forget to check out the fun game stalls, suitable for all ages, and challenge yourself to win your favourite plushie home!

 

*Activities will be suspended in the event of inclement weather and will resume once the weather conditions are suitable.

Children’s Festival opening hours are from 10 June to 25 June 2023, 10.00am to 7.00pm daily.

Children’s Festival is held at the Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay.

The nearest MRT station is Bayfront MRT Station (CE1/DT16) Exit B via the Circle Line or Downtown Line and Gardens by the Bay MRT station (TE22) via Thomson East-Coast Line.

This is a non-gated event and admission is free to Supertree Grove. However, fees apply for selected activities and games. 

Time slot registration to visit the Children’s Festival is not required. However, registration is required for some selected activities within the Festival. Following are the activities that require registration (either pre-registration or onsite registration): 

  • Craft activities (includes Leaf art, Fan colouring, Shrink art keychain, DIY Straw Hat and Colouring Drum)
  • Game stalls
  • Caterpillar train ride
  • TGIF Groove at the Grove (introductory dance workshop for kids for Hip Hop and K-Pop)
  • Fast and Furriest Dog Races during BYOP (Bring Your Own Pets) Day
  • Best dressed competition
  • Children’s Festival Nature Hunt
  • Eco-craft workshops

Activities & Programmes

The installations are based on flora and fauna that can be found in the Gardens. Selected installations have playable elements, e.g. slide, mini obstacle course and mini ball pit which are free and recommended for children aged 6 to 12 years. Children below the age of 6 or 80 cm tall will have to be supervised by an adult while enjoying the playable elements.

There are a total of five craft activities and it will take approximately 15 minutes each: 

  • Leaf Art (Free)
  • Colouring Fan (Free)
  • Shrink Art (Free, limited slots)
  • DIY Straw Hat (charges applicable at $6/activity kit)
  • Colouring Drum (charges applicable at $5/activity kit)

Additionally on 11 (Sun), 17 (Sat) and 24 Jun (Sun), an Eco Corner will also be available at Cannonball Room. Children will be taught to create sustainable eco-crafts upcycled from materials like beverage cartons, plastic and fabric. Two levels of workshops (basic, 15min and intermediate, 30min) will be offered.

The Caterpillar train ride is a guided train ride around Supertree Grove, bringing you and your little ones on a unique tour around among the Supertrees to be introduced to the Gardens and the various installations at Children’s Festival, which were inspired by flora and fauna found within the Gardens.  

The Caterpillar train ride is recommended for children aged 7 years old and above and taller than 120cm tall. Children aged between 5 to 6 years old and/or under 120cm will require a paid accompanying adult which can be purchased at a bundled price. The ride is not recommended for children aged 4 years and below.

The Caterpillar train ride is be available daily from 12.00pm – 6.00pm and a ticket is required to board the train.

Ticket Prices:

  • Child (under 1.2m tall) - $10 per child
  • Child (above 1.2m tall) / Adult - $12 per pax
  • Bundle Price (1 Child 1 Adult) - $20 per pair

Tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis and can only be purchased onsite at the Festival.

Outdoor movie screenings will take place daily from 6pm at Supertree Grove Lawn and free popcorn will be provided when one presents the activity booklet! Expect light-hearted popular kids or family movies based on weekly themes — Family (10 – 11 June), Animals (12 – 18 June) and lastly Nature (19 – 25 June). 

In addition to the movie screening, there will also be kids programme content screening happening at the same location between 10.00am – 12.00pm (weekdays) and selected weekend morning slots.

Bring your pet(s) out for a fun-filled weekend with activities packed for all animal lovers at Supertree Grove Lawn on 17 and 18 June 2023. 

  • BYOP (Bring Your Own Pets) Day (17 Jun): Free pets-friendly activities will be provided, including the Fast and Furriest series of dog races.
  • Dog Adoption Drive (18 Jun): In partnership with Mercylight Animal Rescue and Sanctuary Limited, a small number of rescue dogs will be up for adoption.
  • Pets Marketplace (17-18 Jun): Check out the Pets Marketplace for a variety of pet products and goodies available throughout the Pets weekend.

Please keep your dogs on a leash and muzzle dog breeds specified under the Animals & Birds (Dog Licensing & Control) Rules. Do clean up after your dogs/pets and dispose of all waste in a hygienic manner.

Happening on 24 and 25 June 2023, get inspired by nature and sign up your little ones for a Best Dressed Competition or embark on the Children’s Festival Nature Hunt as a family to redeem an exclusive little explorer badge upon completion!

  • Best Dressed Competition (24 Jun): Based on the theme, Nature’s Imaginarium, dress up your little ones in nature-inspired outfits and show off your creativity! For those who do not have any suitable outfit, they may still join in the fun with free face and hand painting to look like their favourite animal or insect. Attractive prizes to be won!
  • Children’s Festival Nature Hunt (25 Jun): Hunt for plant and insect species in Gardens by the Bay, find them all, and redeem a limited edition Children’s Festival little explorer badge!

  • TGIF Groove at the Grove: Join lively dance instructors every Friday to pick up some dance grooves at the Supertree Grove Lawn where the little ones can learn introductory dance skills to different genres like Hip-Hop and K-pop!
  • Art & Literary Street: Learn about artworks and explore books that will inspire little ones about nature! Brought to you by National Gallery Singapore’s (NGS) Roving Art Truck and Travelling Art Carts, as well as MOLLY, the National Library Board's (NLB) Mobile Library.
  • Kindsville @ Children’s Festival: Get ready for a day of family fun and kindness at Kindsville @ Children's Festival 2023! Singa and the Kindness Cubbies are excited to invite you and your family to join them in dancing, learning, and experiencing the magic of kindness together. Brought to you by Singapore Kindness Movement. 
  • Dinotopia: An AR experience for kids where they follow horticulturists Alex and Emma on a journey to communicate with and understand how a group of dinosaurs are working as caretakers in Gardens by the Bay. At the end of this journey, children will learn to appreciate the plants and eco-friendly features found in the Gardens.
